Are the jewelry boxes, pen cases, cigar humidors, and flatware chests that you sell seconds or imperfect quality?

No!  These beautiful wood boxes are first quality.  Each box is drop shipped to you directly from Reed and Barton so it will arrive factory-fresh.  We do not resell any Reed and Barton box as first quality that is returned to our store by other customers.  This way you are assured of receiving a factory-fresh item, not one that another customer may have had for a month before returning it.

What kind of wood are Reed and Barton jewelry boxes made from?

Reed and Barton's USA made boxes are crafted of hardwood. mostly Poplar or Oak. Some are made of other materials... see each product page for details.  Poplar boxes have a mahogany, cherry,  walnut, etc. finish. Oak boxes have a natural finish (except for the white finish available for the White Oak Regal).   All Reed and Barton boxes are now made in China.

I want my jewelry box finish to match my bedroom set.  Are online colors accurate?

The colors in the pictures we show online will vary from the original item because they are only scanned images of the manufacturer's printed catalog.  Colors vary between computer monitors and settings so you cannot rely upon the colors you see on your monitor to determine actual colors.

How do these boxes ship and what does shipping cost?

All Reed and Barton jewelry boxes, humidors, pen boxes, flatware chests, etc. They ship via insured UPS Ground delivery service which is an approximate 2-9 day delivery service depending upon where you are located in relation to Massachusetts.

Are Reed and Barton boxes returnable?

All Reed and Barton boxes are special order items that are NOT returnable. We want our customers to receive a "factory fresh" box. instead of a box that may have sat in someone's home for up to 30 days before it was returned to the store.  These products can pick up odors, dirt on the box itself or the packaging, etc.  There are stores that do allow the return of these products... if you are not sure you will like the item you are considering, we recommend that you shop further or purchase locally because these boxes are not returnable. 

But what if the Reed & Barton item is delivered damaged or with a manufacturer's defect?

We are, of course, here to assist you!  Just because we say an item is not returnable does not mean you are stuck with a purchase damaged by delivery or mfr. defective product. We require our customers to unpack and carefully inspect their Reed & Barton purchases immediately upon delivery.  If this is a gift, you do not want to present the recipient with a broken, damaged, or otherwise imperfect box so PLEASE carefully inspect your order immediately upon delivery!   If there are any problems, you must notify us within 24 hours of delivery.  Please visit this link for contact information. 

 

Can I cancel my order?

As long as the manufacturer has not shipped your order when we speak with them or it is not already in the shipping department, you can cancel your order for a full credit to your credit card. If your order has already shipped or has reached the shipping department, we are unable to cancel the order.

What's with the saw dust?

These items are crafted of wood and they sometimes do have saw dust in the drawers. Take a clean, soft lint-free cloth and gently remove it from the drawer or inside compartment, if necessary.

When and how do Reed & Barton products ship?

Most items are shipped within 4 to 10 business days, meaning Monday through Friday, plus actual delivery service time.  If an item is temporarily out of stock, which does occasionally occur especially during the Christmas season, we will contact you via email to the address you supplied when you ordered or by telephone.  All orders are shipped via UPS Ground service (unless an upgrade in shipping is requested.)  Depending upon your location in the contiguous USA , delivery generally takes from 2-9 days for delivery from the date it leaves the factory. If a faster UPS method is selected, Reed and Barton items still take several days to leave the factory.  The faster shipping methods, if selected, are only for the actual time it takes for delivery once it is in the UPS system.  Once the item is in UPS's hands, it is out of our control and it is up to UPS to deliver in the time frames they advertise.   

I live in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, etc.  Can I still order?

Yes, but please note that UPS Ground shipping is not available to these locations so shipping is very expensive from the mfr's. Massachusetts location. Please email us for pricing including your city, state, zip code and the item number you are considering.  

I live outside the United States, have a military address or a Post Office box number.  Can I still order?

Unfortunately, we no longer ship to Canada or any address outside the United States of America. We also are unable to ship to APO or FPO addresses because UPS does not deliver to military addresses.  Items are not packed good enough by the mfr. for them to arrive in good condition.  Also, UPS will not deliver to most Post Office box numbers.

Engraving... how do I go about ordering custom engraving services?

Each box will arrive with a postage-paid envelope offering optional engraving services directly from the manufacturer. A fee applies.

I don't want an engraving/name plate on my jewelry box... can I order it without one?

If the jewelry box or chest is pictured with an engraving plate or if it states it includes one, the mfr. currently charges us $25.00 more (this is also the fee we charge you... we do not add anything to their fee) to order a chest without an engraving plate if it is pictured with one. This sounds ridiculous to pay more for less but they have to pull the box from the line before it is drilled and then track it though the rest of the assembly and finishing process. Shipping time depends upon when the last production date was for that particular style... it could take several weeks to several months to ship.
